The pandemic has brought us face to face: Whether it's digitalisation, social interaction or sustainable production - major changes are needed on numerous levels. With our showcase exhibition in spring 2021, despite closed doors, we promoted design in Hamburg, as an industry, as an idea, as a discipline.

Under the motto " Design can do that! we share the conviction that our world will not be sustainable without massive design innovations and interventions. More than 50 designers responded to our call and we have honoured them in a separate publication. Discover a selection here.

With their posters, the designers answered the question: "What can design do? - in everyday life, in the ideal case, in the crisis, in society, in companies and in the city. Their individual statements not only show their design skills, but also make the designers ambassadors of their discipline, making the great potential and relevance of design visible.

The designers' statements provide a lot of valuable food for thought, because design is not a mere formality, but forward-looking, critical and visionary. With their posters, the designers - from students to freelancers to agencies - position themselves on topics such as sustainability, politics and society.
