Designers, architects, product developers and makers who are already at home in 3D software (Rhino, Blender, Fusion 360 etc.) and want to expand their toolbox with an experimental 3D printing approach.

The printer as a tool for your design process
3D printing is more than just spitting out an end product layer by layer. In this four-hour hands-on workshop, you will learn how to use the printer as a tool in the design process. From final products to flexible moulds, templates, jig & fixture prototypes or as quick material experiments. We combine digital models with classic materials such as silicone, plaster or recycled bio-plastics and explore how to use printed parts as a catalyst for, rather than instead of, other manufacturing processes.
What you can expect
- Experience material diversity - from TPU flex to PLA and nylon.
- Tool instead of trophy - understand when printing is an intermediate step and how it fuels other processes.
- Rapid moulding - pouring silicone or concrete into printed moulds.
- Iterative prototyping - printing jigs & fixtures to quickly mould wood, textile or metal.
- Best practice tips - nozzles, layer heights, infill tricks and tips for robust moulds.
