Thirsty?
You’re not alone in that. We quench our thirst for good design and valuable contacts at Design Thirstday, the relaxed event for designers at the Design Zentrum Hamburg. Our recipe: a fresh mix of short talks, special guests from the industry and time for stimulating conversations. Preferably with a drink in hand.
It wasn’t just the social dry spells during the pandemic that showed just how important face-to-face interaction and a strong network are. From the very beginning, the Design Zentrum has been a meeting place and platform for Hamburg’s design scene – and beyond. Design Thirstday carries this idea forward.
At the start of the event, exciting figures from the scene will briefly introduce themselves and their projects – after which we’ll move on to a relaxed exchange. This time, the following special guests will be joining us:
- Sven Rieckmann is Creative Director at the Peter Schmidt Group, where he has been working with international brands and start-ups in the lifestyle, sport and esports sectors for over 13 years.
- Ari Liloan gathers compelling arguments regarding the AI debate and creates illustrations for clients including Google, Time Magazine, A24 and others – see more at sorry.
- Daniel Streilein is an industrial designer and co-founder of Boldextrusion Ventures, a Hamburg-based studio specialising in large-format 3D printing, which develops innovative furniture and objects from recycled and bio-based plastics.

Workshop: Demokratie der kleinen Dinge
In this workshop, you’ll gather the good things you’ve long since encountered in your everyday life – and turn them into a message that you can send out into the world. Over the course of four hours, you’ll work your way from small observations towards a desirable future, and go home with your own poster, which will become part of a collective wall.
Design Visit: Nordstil Fair
