Design Talk: Interior design and interior architecture

Design and architecture meet particularly directly where people experience spaces. At this Design Talk, our speakers will talk about the interface between interior design and interior architecture. The two terms are often used synonymously and in practice the transitions are quite fluid. Nevertheless, there are important nuances, for example in terms of technical perspectives, aesthetics or atmosphere.

We discuss:

• How are interiors planned, designed and perceived?
• What are the defining differences or contrasts between the disciplines of interior design and interior architecture?
• What role do atmosphere, function, materiality and furnishings play?
• What responsibility is associated with the design of spaces?

The speakers will begin by providing insights into their perspectives and working methods, after which the floor will be opened up for questions and input from the audience.

Kim Marc Bobsin is co-owner of the Hamburg planning office sbp (Seel Bobsin Partner). The office specialises in the conception and realisation of so-called "emotional spaces" and works interdisciplinary in the fields of workspace, health care, hospitality, retail and fair.

Bettina Schön works as an architectural mediator and freelance editor for CUBE magazine, which is dedicated to the core topics of exclusive living and modern architecture. She has a degree in architecture and urban planning.

Ole Grönwoldt'score themes range between classic interior design and brand-related spatial staging. He works as a designer and visual artist and runs the interior design studio Ole Grönwoldt Spatial Design.

Ivonna Luty is a freelance interior designer. As a trained visual merchandiser and qualified interior designer, she always has the big picture in mind when presenting products in a space - from placement in the salesroom to interior design that matches the product.
